Summary
Responsible for tracker and inverter pile optimization and pile testing during the design phase of all projects. Create, implement, manage and continually improve tracker pile designs, inverter station foundation designs, and coordination of pile designs/optimization with the civil designs. Lead and collaborate with design partners, procurement, tracker suppliers, Mortenson operation teams and civil trade partners.
Locations: Minnesota, San Antonio, TX, Fargo, ND and Denver, CO.

Review geotechnical investigation reports, pull testing reports, tracker reactions, Owner Agreement scopes of work, wind criteria and provide tracker pile size, pile embedment pile projection height, and corrosion mitigation recommendations to our estimating teams.
Establish and implement pile pull testing standards and participate and/or lead constructability reviews tracker pile designs.
Manage site specific wind and corrosion third party studies as required to optimize piles for estimate and/or design.
Build and nurture relationships with pile suppliers.
Write scope of work and schedule Exhibit for pile supply Purchase Agreements
Draft and negotiate geotechnical investigation, pile testing, wind study and corrosion study Professional Service Agreements.
Schedule and manage pile pull tests for projects.
Lead pile corrosion design mitigation efforts.
Participate in the Mortenson in-house development of 30% Construction Documents.
Manage design partners and ensure they meet design deliverable achievements.
Establish, implement and lead efforts to confirm accuracy of topographic elevation data
Coordinate tracker pile projection height design with tracker length and topographic survey.
Manage 3rd party engineering reviews on pile designs, tracker supplier provided reactions and dynamic tracker system designs.
Implement lean innovation from the projects into new designs.
Promote designs that are optimized for performance, quality, safety and overall cost efficiency.
Continually learn what the new solar industry trends are and become a subject matter expert.
Attend solar industry conferences and other forums.
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level.
Shown positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills.
Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies to employees and outside parties.
Proficiency with LPILE.
Fluency with CAD preferred.
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent field.
Minimum of five years relevant experience in geotechnical engineering and/or structural engineering.
Minimum of two years of experience in solar construction preferred.
Professional Engineer License preferred.
