Job Description

COMPENSATION


Create and maintain appropriate salary ranges for all US & Canada positions; ensure set-up and maintain salary structure for APC employees.
Create and educate leaders on base compensation structure, include pay grades, bands, scales, and mixes of all salaried structures.
Ensure compensation matrix are aligned to market, APC trends, as well as internal qualifications are appropriate for pay grades.
Perform functions around annual incentive programs - maintaining all APC Corporate, Field and Manufacturing discretionary bonus programs, including field and manufacturing safety incentives and annual business performance bonuses.
Initiate, analyze, and benchmark competitive salary information on an ongoing basis and determine competitive position.
Continually review and improve compensation programs to ensure they are designed to attract, retain, and engage associates.
Update salary ranges annually; ensure maintenance and updating of salary structure.
May assist the CFO and Global Human Resources Director on specific projects relating to compensation, data analysis and annual budget planning.

BENEFITS & PAYROLL


Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts of benefit plan coverage, assets, and costs for the US & Canada business units.
Participate in developing Payroll and Benefits goals, objectives, and systems. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
Strong Knowledge of ACA, ERISA, 125 Plans, 401(k)
Strong knowledge of ACA, ERISA, 125 Plans, and 401(k) plans. Manage associated processes and ensure compliance.
Evaluate and supervise the administrative processes and procedures within the Benefits and Payroll Develop opportunities to contain and reduce costs.
Develop and expand the use of the HRIS system. Assure data integrity of employee records, reports, enrollments, and payrolls as it relates to benefits and payroll policy compliance.
High level supervision of the main payroll systems: Infinium, Kronos, WFR iSeries, and other systems.
Supervise preparation and submission of payroll tax returns according to IRS and state regulations and / or Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
Assure benefit plans are administered in accordance with Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor regulations and / or CRA. Prepare and execute, with legal or professional counsel, up-to-date plan documents, SPDs, and 5500s.
Develop, propose, implement, and communicate new and revised benefit plans. Initiate and manage all aspects of a vendor search, plan, design, and contract negotiations.
Manage ongoing plan operations, vendor relationships and vendor contracts. Ensure the accuracy of financial reporting for benefit plans. Plan meetings for fiduciary committee(s) and prepare materials for drafting minutes of these meetings.
Manage the implementation of plan changes with vendors, managing all aspects of projects related to plan administration changes.
Develop content for employee education seminars, orientation, guides, brochures, standard operating procedures, and videos.
Maintain awareness of marketplace trends and regulatory changes. Make or propose changes to benefits plans accordingly.
Prepare communication to employees regarding complex benefit issue arising beyond the scope of routine enrollments, terminations, changes of coverage.
Knowledgeable about VISA processes and corresponding relocation processes.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Finance or other related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
Five years of corporate and/or consulting experience with supervisory responsibility in compensation and total reward, health and welfare and qualified retirement plan administration
CEBS designation, CEBS-level knowledge, or other completion of professional certification/organized program of study preferred, but not required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE


Knowledge of principles and procedures for employee compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including word processing (Word), worksheet (Excel), presentation (PowerPoint), database (Access) and HRIS.
Capable of reading, comprehending, and applying ERISA, DOL, IRS, FMLA and other regulations as they pertain to welfare and qualified plans.
Analyze compensation policies, government regulations, and prevailing wage rates to develop competitive compensation plan.
Ability to manage multiple projects: identify team responsibility, establish tasks, priorities, and deadlines. The ability to perform research independently.
Understanding of financial and accounting data. Examples: Provide monthly summaries of benefit plan costs, identify trends, identify threats and opportunities to costs. Identify retirement plan asset allocation, plan balances, fund performance, broker fees.
Negotiating skills necessary to negotiate insurance plan renewals and vendor services.
Ability to build effective partnerships.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS


Excellent written and oral communication skills for all levels of audience. Examples: Ability to compose a Request for Proposal, Summary Plan Description, Scope Document, letters to beneficiaries, enrollment materials to employees, retirement summaries, and PowerPoint presentations to employee groups and management groups.
Ability to communicate effectively and present ideas and issues clearly in front of audiences.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


Office setting with partial remote (partial remote work not guaranteed to continue). Potential travel time required - less than 20%.
