Position Summary:

Responsible for designing software algorithm design for user interfaces and motor control. Responsible for software testing, automated test design, and delivering new technology through software development. Responsible for periodically directing the assistance of two junior engineers to assist with project goals.

Major Responsibilities:

Design, debug, and test embedded software for standard motor control applications
Analyze and design software algorithms for user interface components
Lead the design and improvement of motor control algorithms
Contribute to the design and development of tools for configuring device operation
Collaborate across the organization by effectively managing repositories, participating in design reviews, and developing project schedules
Play a leading role in the development and documentation of product specifications. Collaborate with electrical and application engineers to translate customer needs to design and test requirements
Create test plans and participate in the development of automated test procedures
Collaborate with Application Engineers to tune software for use in specific applications
Provide guidance to electrical engineers to ensure functional designs, especially concerning wiring of processor inputs and outputs
Provide guidance to manufacturing and applications engineers to contribute to the overall validation of the manufactured product
Collaborate with application and electrical engineers to investigate and solve problems discovered in product testing and usage
Assist in the continued development of Junior Engineers

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent related degree
6+ years relevant experience programming embedded software in C
Strong verbal or written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects and deliver finished products
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineers in other fields of study
Experience in providing customer support and dealing with challenging customer issues

Bonus Skills:

Strong technical writing skills and the ability to create user facing documentation.
Experience with motors or the design of motor control algorithms
Experience with use of electrical monitoring tools (oscilloscope/ logic analyzer)
Automated test development, GUI development, or analytical tool development
Experience programming in Python or C#
Strong knowledge of software control theory as it relates to power electronics
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization.
