While working closely with department representatives, the Medical Librarian Intern participates in a structured learning experience. Through the library you will provide information in support of patient care, research, and education. We support the community by continuing Cleveland Clinic’s greater mission of “Caring for life, researching for health, educating those who serve.” The ideal caregiver is someone who: • Is a graduate student who is currently enrolled in an ALA accredited Library Science graduate degree program • Has an interested in learning about becoming a health sciences librarian. • Can make definitive choices, expresses opinions on issues and can explain logical path decisions. The intern will have to opportunity to rotate to different librarians to learn about their positions in the library and may be supervised by that librarian during that rotation. You will primarily be based at our Main Campus library. You will get the chance to rotate to a library at Fairview, South Pointe, or Hillcrest to gain experience of what it is like to be a solo medical librarian at a community hospital. Job Responsibilities:
- Researches, compiles, tabulates, and analyzes data and processes for a variety of administrative and departmental matters.
- Assists department personnel in assigned administrative, planning, organizational, technical, and professional tasks.
- Provides suggestions or recommendations with regard to department specific projects.
- Prepares and presents reports; drafts policies and procedures; responds to requests for information.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Current college enrollment required.

Additional Job Description
- Gain experience providing reference services in person, via email, and chat to caregivers
- Learn searching skills in the biomedical literature databases to fulfill information requests.
- Participate and help as needed with the library's migration to a new integrated library system
- Gain experience in other areas of medical librarianship such as collection development, electronic resource management, and document delivery.
- Help and learn about open access initiatives as well as potential applications of artificial intelligence in medical librarianship.
