Position Summary:

Arkansas State University is seeking to hire a full-time writing instructor in the Transition Studies department. Teach developmental writing courses for both domestic and international students

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach 12-15 hours per semester
  • Hold regular office hours
  • Collaboratively work with faculty and staff to complete departmental projects
  • Will work closely with Composition I faculty to develop and facilitate co-requisite courses in developmental writing and Composition I
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of English language structure, grammar and composition. Knowledge of current pedagogical methods. Good oral and written communication skills

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional Hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Possibly some evenings

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with ESL students is encouraged, but not required

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Bachelor’s Degree in English, English Education or related field

OR

An earned Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 18 hours of graduate level coursework in English, English education or a related field. Experience with teaching developmental coursework in higher education
