Job Summary | The recently established Newcomer Clinic provides Utah’s newly arriving refugee individuals, families, and asylum seekers access to vital health screenings and exceptional continuity medical services. Located at the University of Utah Population Health Center, the Newcomer Clinic is a novel approach to improving refugee health and is the largest of its kind in Utah – seeing approximately 75.0% of the state’s refugees and asylum-seekers annually. Often serving as the first-touch point, the Newcomer Clinic plays critical roles not only in promoting health, but also in helping this population navigate community programs and social services. This clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant I (MA I) ready to contribute to a high-quality, trauma-informed, patient-centered care model for an under-served population – spanning both adults and children. This unique role primarily supports direct patient care for the Newcomer Clinic, and secondarily supports the University of Utah Population Health Center’s other clinical programs as part of the Center’s Medical Assistant Pool. This position is ideal for a proactive, self-driven individual keen on improving clinic operations and contributing to this mission-driven team. This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at 168 North 1950 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84116 if they are healthy and without COVID -19 symptoms. |
