Job Description: |
Need 2 full time, temporary, seasonal Ag. Equipment Operators to work in East Grand Forks, MN. From: 4/01/2025 - 08/31/2025 Work: 40 hrs./week, Mon.-Fri. 8 hrs./day. 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. In MN, All hours worked in excess of 48 hours in a work week will be paid at the rate of time and a half. Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, an employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) per year, provided the employee works a minimum of 80 hours in a calendar year.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The job specifications involve skilled farm labor for the purpose of preparing and performing duties for receiving potato seed for planting, planting the potato seed, preparing for harvest activities and growing the crop. Operate potato seed handling equipment, including pilers, forklifts, bobcat, storage and washline equipment. The potato seed needs to be unloaded, graded, sized, cut, treated, and suberized prior to planting. This process involves operating conveyers, pilers, unloaders, bobcats, forklifts, seed treatment machines, seed cutting machines. Other responsibilities include sorting, sizing and grading seed potatoes by hand, including sorting out green, rotten or other low quality potatoes as they pass on a conveyor. Use equipment to load and unload potatoes from storage bins. Cleaning potato storage bins. Operate equipment to move potatoes from storage bins to load out location Applying seed treatment to the potato seed. Notify supervisor of any seed potato quality issues. Use bobcat to unload seed potatoes or to move them around the farm. Find proper location for potatoes and use bobcat to move potatoes to its designated areas, while keeping varieties and lots of potatoes separate. Handle potatoes in a manner to ensure they are not damaged. Removal and clean up of spilled potatoes and other debris. Washing and disinfecting the potato warehouses where seed potatoes were stored. Preparing this area so that it is ready for harvest time operations. This includes installing washline and other potato handling equipment and conducting maintenance. Perform basic maintenance or repairs on farm facilities. Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Perform farm site cleaning. Report equipment repair needs to a supervisor. Perform general farm work as needed. Participate in required Know Your Rights and Responsibilities (KYRR) training Participate in required health and safety training. All tools will be provided at no cost.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Experience working with potatoes is required. Experience operating a front end loader/bobcat & forklift is required. Repetitive movements, extensive pushing, and pulling, extensive walking, standing, bending and stooping will be required. Work may be required outdoors when temperatures can vary from very hot to very cold, and potentially wet, or dry/dusty conditions. Due to the complexity of the weather and planting conditions, workers may be requested to work longer than 8 hours per day, as well as Saturdays, Sundays, and/or Federal holidays. This is dependent on field conditions, potato seed availability, and potato growing conditions, and field conditions during harvest. Therefore, hours above 40 hours per week may be offered, but not guaranteed, and are voluntary.
EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance; employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. Required work-related tools, equipment and supplies provided free of charge by employer.
