Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:

1. Be respectful and supportive of each Teacher, Assistant, Interpreter, and Home Visitor, by being punctual as requested.
2. Be present and engaged in classrooms four days per week.
3. Develop goals and action plans with each Teacher, Assistant, Interpreter, and Home Visitor based on needs that both the staff member and Education Coach have identified and agreed upon.
4. Assist the Education Coach with scheduling and planning focused observations and coaching sessions.
5. Provide support by sharing resources, providing models of effective teaching practices and behavior guidance practices, observing the classrooms current practices, providing supportive and constructive feedback.?
6. Remain supportive rather than evaluative and maintain, to the maximum extent possible, a separation between coaching and performance evaluation.
7. Support the Education Coach with the growth and effectiveness of the TLC’s and group-members and facilitators within those groups.?
8. Assist the Education Coach, as directed, to complete data entry into ChildPlus.
9. Support the Management Team in completing vision, hearing, and child development screenings as directed.
10. Assist the Management Team with tasks required to maintain compliance under Federal and State regulations.
11. Analyze Program Data.
12. Participate in T/TA with Prairie Five’s delegated EC Specialist through OHS.
13. Substitute in Head Start classrooms as needed.
14. Mandatory attendance at Staff Meetings/Trainings.
15. Communication with Head Start Office Responsibilities:
a. Follow “Coach Reporting Policies”
b. Turn in adequate forms/paperwork for tracking of TLC Meetings, Peer Reviews, Intensive Coaching
16. Dependable attendance is a must/call supervisor if absent.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. One of the following credentials is needed to hold position:
a. A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in early childhood education or related field
b. At least three years of experience with preschool children in educational settings
2. Continued training in Early Childhood Education (2% of hours worked)
3. Ability to collaborate with teachers to determine needs and goals for individual classrooms
4. Ability to facilitate teacher, and classroom staff learning through positive and constructive feedback
5. Ability to obtain and analyze data to determine progress and needs of teachers and classrooms, and home visitors.
6. Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders Governing Body and Policy Council, program leaders, teachers, staff, families, and community.
7. Ability to write & speak effectively.
8. Ability to seek assistance from other professionals (community of coaches or supervisors) as needed.
9. Have extensive knowledge of the curriculum or practices about which they will be coaching and the ability to demonstrate the teaching practices/ways to achieve engaging interactions and environments.
10. Ability to provide and receive feedback appropriately to support learning.
11. Ability to be sensitive, respectful, and accepting of all families.
12. Demonstrate agency and program values in job performance.
13. Possess and maintain the necessary skill level in technology systems and software required to perform individual job duties.
14. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with agency policy and federal and state regulations.
15. Understand adult learning principles and collaborative teaming.
16. Have experience with policies, procedures, and workplace culture of the center or grantee.
17. At least three years of experience with low-income population.
18. Past or present Head Start parent or student preferred.
