Brooks Instrument, a global manufacturer of flow and pressure measurement and control products for critical applications, and a division of ITW (A Fortune 200 Company) is seeking candidates for a Senior CNC Machinist (2nd shift). This position will be based out of our headquarters facility in Hatfield, PA (Suburban Philadelphia). In addition to our Pennsylvania operations, Brooks maintains manufacturing locations in, Hungary, and Korea. The Company also maintains sales offices throughout the world.  Our products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: life sciences, chemicals, semiconductor, analytical instruments, nuclear, and solar cells.

Job Description

Basic Function

With minimal supervision, performs a wide variety of duties to support the Engineering Model Shop. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in both manual and CNC machining. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of machining processes, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to program CNC machines efficiently. This candidate should also have applicable knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, layout techniques and familiarity with machining various materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform machining of engineering prototypes to support development programs.
  • Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
  • May be assisted by engineering personnel in developing unique parts/fixtures.
  • Make recommendations for design enhancements or improvements to support design for manufacturability optimization.
  • Operate with latitude for un-reviewed action or decisions.
  • Reviews progress with management.
  • Ability to make parts from analyzing drawings, sketches, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-pieces. 
  • Selects, aligns, secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, etc.
  • Utilize EZ Trak on the Bridgeport milling machine.
  • Utilize Haas CNC Lathe and Mill; writing G-code and using IPS.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using precise measuring equipment.  (comparator, calipers, micrometers)
  • Support manufacturing, as required, for fixtures, tooling or small quantity parts.
  • Responsible for machine shop tooling maintenance on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for managing priorities and work schedule to support project timelines.
  • Responsible for ordering and managing raw material to support model shop requirements.
  • Knowledge of materials – general characteristics, machine-ability, heat-treating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workplace.
  • Other duties not listed above to support departmental or corporate goals.

  • Ability to get along with others in a large multidisciplinary team environment

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of 8 years machining experience and/or educated through an apprenticeship program, trade school, or vocational program.
  • Ability to work in MS Outlook, Excel, Word and Team Center
