Director of Internal Audit
This position location is flexible as it may office from any Fastenal location.
HEADD
Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI SAT SUN 8:00am - 5:00pm
OVERVIEW:
Working as a full time Director of Internal Audit, you will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to teams performing audit functions that assist the organization in managing and reducing business risk. Primary areas of focus include: ensuring and improving processes for compliance with financial and information technology controls; sustaining and developing global controls and internal operational audit procedures; and maturing Fastenal's corporate Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) environment. The position will report directly to the Executive Vice President, can be based out of any Fastenal location, and include significant engagement with internal departments and functions as well as external engagement with Fastenal's board of directors and outside auditors.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
oDeveloping, managing, and directing audit teams across the global enterprise
oManaging an ERM process that provides high-level evaluation of organizational risks
oDeveloping a risk-based audit plan to mitigate operational, regulatory, and legal risks for the global enterprise
oOverseeing the documentation of a network of business processes and internal controls
oSupervising audit test plans to ensure compliance with internal controls
oMaintaining an audit framework to evaluate the security of Fastenal's IT and cyber assets and products
oAssisting with and expanding the use of internal controls, including design, documentation, and implementation
oPerforming special projects, analysis, and other administrative tasks as necessary
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
oPossess a degree in Accounting/Finance or related degree or experience
oPossess at least five years of work experience in leadership roles
oProficient using Microsoft Office Suite
oExcellent written and oral communication skills
oExcellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to coordinate across teams and departments
oDemonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and ability to improve business processes
oHighly motivated and self-directed with the ability to motivate others
oDemonstrate strong organizational, analytical, planning and prioritizing abilities
oPossess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
oExhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills
oDemonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity, and teamwork
oWillingness to travel, including outside of North America
oPass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam ONLY)
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
oFamiliarity with operating systems utilized by Fastenal, such as PeopleSoft (or comparable ERP systems) POS, WMS, etc.
oFamiliarity with key audit standards and frameworks, such as Sox and COSO
oProficient with PowerBI
