Starting Salary: $27.10 hourly starting salary
Reports to: Chief HR Officer/HR Director; DCHRO/Assistant HR Director
Appointed by: Chief HR Officer/HR Director
SUMMARY:
The Benefits Coordinator for the City of Chicopee's Human Resources Department, provides professional and administrative work which supports current and former City and School employees, related to the daily operations of the City's Benefits program. This work includes research, analysis, compliance, orientation, benefits administration, enrollment, cancellations, changes, billing, auditing, and other general HR functions as assigned by HR leadership. The Benefits Coordinator performs all other related work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
Maintain employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits.
Resolve employee issues with benefits administrators and insurance providers.
Assist employees and the general public who contact or visit the office.
Balance all insurance accounts monthly; this includes posting all changes to accounts.
Review periodic payroll deductions.
Balance all deductions for Chicopee Contributory Retirement and the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System (MTRS).
Complete benefits and applicable financial reports for the Auditing and Treasurer's departments.
Maintain and update the Human Resources website.
Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local rules and regulations.
Conduct research appropriate to the organization's needs with benefits, insurance, and wellness.
Other duties as assigned per the full job description.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be minimally qualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
An Associate's Degree in Business, Human Resources or in another related field, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in Benefits Administration.
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in Benefits Administration
Or an equitable combination of education and/or experience that enables performance of all aspects of this position.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
MUNIS experience is preferred but not required.
Municipal and/or Public Administration experience is preferred but not required.

This is a Full Time, 40-hour per week position, with the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
This is a confidential position, classified in the City's Chapter 7 Ordinance, Grade 08, starting at Step 01, $27.10 per hour, with periodic step and pay increases upon continuous completion of employment with the City of Chicopee.
