Job Description
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
· Leading of the annual planning process at the divisional level
· Preparation of monthly consolidated forecasts (B/R/E/C/WC) for the assigned business units within the division & analysis of variances between Actual, forecasted and Plan results.
· Analysis of various profit streams and identification of key opportunities
· Development of annual labor rates and identification of key reduction opportunities
· Completion of various benchmarking analysis exercises using both internal and external sources
· Leading with the preparation & analysis of the weekly Quarterly Outlook/ Ops report & MBR
· Development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives with respect to the Finance Processes with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
· Developing business models, key business indicators, benchmarks to support business decisions,
· Identifying and prioritizing the organization's functional and technical needs and requirements. · Using SQL and Excel to analyze large data sets.
· Reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
· Knowledge of analysis and requirements and industry best practices (e.g. business process modeling, conceptual data analysis and modeling, use cases) and tools.
· Compiling charts, tables, and other elements of data visualization.
· Understanding business strategies, goals, and requirements.
· Working with key stakeholders (system owners & data users) and other project team members to define, validate and prioritize system requirements.
· Leading design sessions in prototyping new features or systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
· Collaborating in the planning, design, development and deployment of new applications and system enhancements.
· Creating process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmers.
· Coordinating and performing in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support.
· Providing orientation and training to system users for all modified and new systems
· Working with Director, Finance to identify cost savings opportunities, and opportunities for efficiency gains in day-to-day operational activities.
· Developing and/or preparing specific financial analysis as assigned by the Director, Finance.
FINANCIAL REPORTING AND ACCOUNTING
· Completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting duties as assigned, which may include some or all of the following activities:
· Assist in the month end, quarter end, and year end reporting requirements, including preparation of required working papers.
· Assist in the preparation of the monthly SFR according to established deadlines.
· Assistance in special projects, financial systems integration, internal audits, treasury, etc., etc., as required & working with the other members of the Finance team on special projects.
· Assist in the preparation of year-end audit files.
INTERNAL CONTROL, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
· Maintenance of the accounting records in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
· Assist the Director of Finance in ensuring that ATS Financial Policies and Procedures are being adhered to and maintaining the internal controls documentation.
· Ensure the safeguarding of company assets.
· Adhere to customer, corporate, divisional governance requirements and associated quality procedures and policies.
· Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
Qualifications
Education:
A university degree or college diploma in business and/or accounting or equivalent business experience is required. Completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA) is also required.
Experience:
A minimum of five years of financial planning & analysis or cost accounting experience is required; preferably in a job shop manufacturing or construction environment using the percentage of completion method of accounting. Individual must have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with people at all levels of the organization both verbally and in written form. Advanced knowledge of an ERP system (preferably JD Edwards) and Excel are required. In addition, the ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance in a team-oriented work environment is mandatory. Strong analytical, financial reporting and accounting skills as well as a continuous improvement orientation are keys. Finally, the person must be hands-on, detail oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines.
