Purpose and Scope:

The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishments storage plan. Note: Exclude workers whose primary duties involve shipping and receiving work (see Shipping/Receiving Clerk), order filling (see Order Filler), or operating forklifts (see Forklift Operator).

Essential Responsibilities:
 

1.Perform a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishments storage plan.

2.Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials, examines stored materials and reports deterioration and damage. Removes material from storage and prepares it for shipment.

3.May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.

4.Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, notes and reports discrepancies and obvious damages; route materials to prescribed storage locations; stores, stacks or palletizes material in accordance with prescribed storage methods.

5.May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.


Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Six to twelve months job related experience and/or training is required. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle. Ability to perform work in a safe manner to prevent loss or damage of equipment. Customer-oriented with ability to courteously and effectively work through difficult situations. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.



Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

• Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and software applications. • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day. • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands. • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders. • Must be able to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds. • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification. • Must be able to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, etc. • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds. • May work in warehouse or outside where it is drafty, noisy and dirty. • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment. • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles. • Will be required to handle dirty parts and lubricants. • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). • May be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to austere environments, under harsh living conditions.
