Job summary: Under the direction of the High School Principal, the social worker supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success of students. Specific services include direct individual and small group services in the areas of behavior management, self regulation, coping skills, social skills, and work skills. The social worker promotes and supports students' academic and social success by providing a vital link among the school, home and community. Social workers will partner with building administration and counselors to provide crisis intervention and make referrals to community agencies for assigned students. Consultation with other school social workers, counselors, teachers, and administrators as well as participation on SAT and MTSS committees will be a vital component of this position.


Skilled in:


Understands the principles, practices, and ethical standards of social work
Knowledge of laws, codes, and regulations related to social work and education
Knowledge of typical developmental milestones and mental health issues of children and young adults
Facilitating crisis intervention counseling techniques
Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines
Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical deadline
Professional communication with families, students, and colleagues
