Job Brief
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the WWTP Operator
performs a variety of operational, maintenance and laboratory duties designed to produce a safe and adequate supply of properly treated water.


Job Duties/Essential Functions
Perform all testing required daily, monthly, and yearly by local, state, and federal jurisdictions.
Perform all preventive maintenance on the equipment within the WWTP.
Perform all repairs needed in a timely fashion or delegate to the appropriate personnel within the Maintenance department or private sector.
Order all appropriate spare parts, tools, and chemicals to maintain the WWTP.
Perform all adjustments daily to maintain the WWTP in peak, operating condition.
Perform all written documentation daily in accordance with local, state and federal laws.
Abide by all local, state, and federal laws required to operate the WWTP.
Recordkeeping, regulatory compliance (permits - city, DNR, MPCA).
Coordinate all waste hauling according to all state and federal guidelines.
Attend seminars and meetings as required by law.
Operates computerized and/or manual pumps, motors, and other equipment to adjust for volume, change treatment process, or make other necessary changes.
Collects samples and performs standard analyses and tests; keeps precise records and interprets results.
Performs standard repairs and maintenance of plant equipment; may assist with more difficult or complex equipment repair or replacement.
Receives and unloads chemical deliveries to the plant.
Perform:
opreventative maintenance work and document tasks completed, time to complete and any deficiencies found.
ostart-up and shutdown of equipment, involving the energizing and de-energizing of equipment.
obench repairs in a timely manner, but not to preclude responding to trouble calls or performing preventative maintenance tasks.
Operate power tools, hand tools, welding and cutting equipment or aerial lifts when required.
Accountable for providing complete and accurate daily maintenance work reports.
Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
Comply with all plant and food safety, HACCP, GMP, and sanitation regulations.
Report all unsafe operating conditions, practices and personnel.
Follow written or verbal instructions in performing assigned maintenance tasks. Maintenance tasks may include building repairs, metal fabrication and cement and tile work, when needed.



QUALIFICATIONS
Requires Class "D" operators license or 2 yrs. experience in operating a pretreatment plant.
Must be available and adaptable to varying work schedules and emergency call-ins.
Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Power Point.
Must possess strong mechanical skills.
Must take the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test.
Must be able to attend and travel to technical schools, if required.
