YEAR ROUND YOUTH DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide administrative support with Youth Department programming, Schedules/announcements, resource sharing, and field communication.
- Provide administrative support with Troops, Corps Cadets, Bible Bowl, Youth Councils, Kidz Councils, Junior Soldier Rallies, and Orange Sunday School in promoting, planning, filing, and organizing events related to these programs.
- Develop and curate engaging content for social media platforms for all youth department programs.
- Remain current about information on the developmental needs of youth.
- Recruit staff by visiting various colleges and universities, conducting interviews, and consulting with the Divisional Youth Secretary for staff hiring.
- Plan and conduct trainings for CampMinder program with corps officers and employees responsible for camper registration.
- Maintaining and updating the Long Point Camp website and social media outlets.
- Be prepared and available to work nights and/or weekends, when scheduled, as part of the Youth Department’s normal program activity (Youth Councils, Bible Bowl, retreats, etc.) as per the direction of the Divisional Youth/Candidates’ Secretary.
- Attend the annual Divisional Youth Leaders Conference.
- Attend the Annual American Camping Conference.
CAMP RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, deliver and evaluate a camp program that meets the needs and interests of the camp’s target populations and ensures their delivery in a safe and quality manner.
- Annually seek and analyze input from youth, families, and staff regarding the quality, safety, and enjoyment of the program and staff.
- Develop and implement crisis and risk management procedures.
- Prepare and analyze enrollment trends.
- Design and ensure delivery of programs and activities appropriate to the camper population.
- Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
- Oversee Staff Recruitment and Development, implement human resource management practices to recruit and retain seasonal staff. Coordinate camp programming, staff evaluations, program briefs, program equipment and inventories, etc.
- Develop and distribute camper recruiting materials for the field, i.e., brochures and posters.
- Coordinate camper pre-registration for all corps and confirm camper slots and sessions each location is attending during the summer.
- Oversee the CampMinder program, site updates, inquiries from the field, communication through mass emails to parents, and yearly set up of camper application and registration. Update staff application and paperwork through the CampMinder site annually.
- Serve as a resource to all corps in the Division for the development of a comprehensive camping program.
- Coordinate and organize staff training and development during orientation and prepare the necessary programs.
- Prepare for the camp program, i.e., ordering supplies, recruiting staff, moving to camp, hiring and coordinating job assignments for those working pre-camp, assigning counselors to cabins, and preparing the camp for the operating season.
- Assist the Divisional Youth Secretary with creating a yearly budget for Summer Camp operations.
- Follow through with the closing of camp, hiring and coordinating job assignments for post camp and preparations for Family Camp Meetings, moving office equipment and supplies to Divisional Headquarters, preparing inventories, and ensuring that all program areas and supplies are secure for the winter.
- Prepare and compile all materials for the American Camping Association Reaccreditations, and maintain files, books, and other pertinent information as it relates to the camping program.
- Ensure all camp programs, facilities, and equipment comply with ACA standards and accreditation.
YOUNG ADULT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a current listing of Young Adults throughout the Division, and SA students on college campuses both in and out of State.
- Coordinate care package support for SA college students.
- Maintain communication with Officers who function as college liaisons.
- Establish fellowship opportunities for college age students within the Division which should include service events and discipleship programs.
- Identify individuals with potential for deeper cultivation for Army service.
- Be willing to participate in DHQ-related youth and young adult events as directed or approved by the Divisional Youth/Candidates’ Secretary as part of the DHQ team. Communicate any perceived schedule conflicts or necessary adjustments with DYCS (committees, Divisional events, etc.).
