To perform the duties of a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or Anesthesiologist Assistant.
__Provides support to the patient as a direct anesthesia care provider under supervision of an
anesthesiologist. This position will work in the main OR's by providing anesthesia service
for AUMC patients in the OR suite as a member of the anesthesia care team and also in Out
of OR locations such as EP, Endoscopy, IR, MRI, and Angiography Suite, etc.
__Review with the responsible attending anesthesiologist the pre-anesthetic assessment and
evaluation of the patient. Such evaluation may indicate the need for additional studies or
consultation. The AA/CRNA may perform this evaluation under the supervision of the
responsible attending anesthesiologist.
__Develop and carry out an anesthetic plan under the direction of the responsible attending
anesthesiologist. Such a plan includes selection and implementation of appropriate
monitors, drugs, fluids and anesthetic techniques.
__Provide continuous vigilant observation of patients under the AA 's/CRNA's care.
correcting abnormal patient responses and seeking consultation from the responsible
attending anesthesiologist where appropriate.
__Complete an accurate and timely anesthetic record for inclusion in the patient's chart.
__Ensure patient stability and safe transfer to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
__Manage emergency situations including initiating and participating in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation.
__Take appropriate precautions to minimize risks of infection of patients, the AA/CRNA
and other health care professionals.
__Maintain the appropriate confidentiality of patient information however it was gathered.
__Manages the anesthesia environment of care, ensuring a proper QA and safety.
__Participation in Department of Anesthesiology quality assessment, educational programs,
research programs and committee work as assigned by the Medical Director for Clinical
Operations and or the Chair of Anesthesiology.
Licensed as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Georgia.
Graduate of Nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor from an accredited college or university and certification as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification & Re certification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
