• Current certification in a leading professional level certification area (e.g., CISM, CISSP, SSCP, CASP+, etc.).
• One of the following:
o Seven or more years of information technology experience.
o Associate/vocational/technical degree in computer science, engineering, or a related information technology field and five or more years of information technology experience.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems, data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, or a related information technology field and three or more years of information technology experience.

Description
The Senior Mitigation Engineer will work to develop repeatable processes for mitigating vulnerabilities and ensuring prompt patching of systems. In coordination with IT Security and responding to audits and assessments, the person in this position will engage with a variety of business and IT groups throughout the county to ensure that vulnerabilities are resolved in a timely manner.

Location and hours:
This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Based on business needs of this position, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota. Work hours will be Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

At this time, employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $2,799.11 that can be earned annually based on performance.

In this position, you will:
• Lead remediation of vulnerabilities based on prioritized IT Security audit and assessment results.
• Serve as the technical lead for developing, implementing, and socializing IT operations vulnerability mitigation strategy and on-going efforts, both internally and externally with line of business' (LOB) customers.
• Develop and execute a repeatable communication plan for vulnerability mitigation efforts, including patching efforts, critical vulnerability information, and risk exception processes.
• Champion vulnerability mitigation on both IT owned and LOB owned hardware and software with a particular focus on business alignment and buy in when mitigation is requested.
• Provide mitigation leadership and assistance to the internal team, as well as throughout the organization.
• Lead coordination with line of business customers and vendors to ensure vulnerability mitigation and lifecycle management.
• Act as the senior point of escalation, technical advisor, and mentor for team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in IT and lines of business to quickly address critical operating system and software vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain repeatable processes, policies, and measurable goals to help IT operations proactively prevent vulnerability situations and reduce technical debt.
