The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $23.00 - $27.00 hourly rate salary. WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Monitoring and Stewardship Technician (MST) assists in implementing ecological restoration projects and analysing measures of conservation success. The MST supports the Arkansas Field Office (ARFO) Terrestrial Monitoring, Measures, and Adaptive Management Program by helping conduct vegetation monitoring, data analysis, and writing technical reports. The MST implements stewardship activities on TNC preserves across Arkansas, and routinely works with the ARFO prescribed burn crew in conducting controlled burns and other management activities on TNC preserves, state natural areas, and federally managed lands. Position is hourly, with starting range between $23 and $27 an hour. Overtime will be very limited.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
May lead or coordinate groups consisting of staff, interns, and volunteers covering a wide geographic area.
Financial responsibility may include working within a budget to complete projects, negotiating, and contracting with vendors.
Networks with diverse groups, including landowners, conservation partners, government officials, and the general public to recruit support for the Conservancy and publicize Conservancy programs/preserves.
May work under minimal and/or distant supervision; may make some independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and context.
May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
BA/BS/AS/Technical or vocational degree in science-related field and 1 year related experience in custodial and ecological land management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with natural systems.
Experience in ecological land management principles.
Experience operating and or repairing various types of equipment and machinery.
Must have a valid driver's license. Please indicate this in your resume.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
1 - 2 years related experience in custodial and ecological land management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with native plant communities of the southeastern United States and with identifying vascular plants of this region to species.
Knowledge/understanding of current trends and practices in conservation, land management and natural resource preservation/conservation or similar field.
Ability to complete tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).
Working knowledge of common software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Web browsers).
Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
Experience with field data collection, data management, analysis, and technical report writing.
Experience using SAS or R software, including reading and writing basic SAS or R coding language, to manage and analyze datasets of varying sizes and levels of complexity.
Experience using ESRI software (ArcMap or ArcPro) for working with spatial datasets and making basic maps for use in the field.
Some experience managing volunteers or entry level staff.
Ability to become qualified as a Fire Fighter Type 2 (FFT2). Training provided, including introduction to ICS (I-100), Human Factors on the Fire line (L-180), Introduction to Wild Land Fire Behavior (S-190), Firefighting Training (S-130), and one training burn serving under the supervision of a qualified FFT2.
