About the Job

The Division of Health Policy and Management, School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Minnesota, invites applicants for a full-time Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (Contract) position with an anticipated start date during summer 2024. We seek to recruit a faculty member whose primary responsibilities include teaching and advising within our Master of Public Health-Public Health Administration and Policy (MPH-PHAP) degree program, participation in research, and service on Division, School, University, and community-focused committees. We are looking for a dynamic teacher and mentor to join our engaged and collaborative faculty to promote our vision of advancing health and health care for all through evidence and education.
The School of Public Health is and welcomes you to join us in our pursuit of building equity and driving justice. We consider an individual's record working with students and colleagues from historically marginalized backgrounds and experience identifying and eliminating systemic barriers to academic success. We particularly encourage applications from those who belong to groups that have been historically underrepresented in our discipline, including those who are American Indian, Black, Indigenous, and people of color, those with disabilities, veterans, and those from LGBTQIA+ communities.
This faculty position will be focused primarily on teaching in the MPH program, comprising approximately 60% of one's time. This will include teaching 2 courses per fall, spring, and summer terms. The course load may include instruction of the same course content using different modalities (face-to-face versus online) or for different student audiences (e.g., executive vs. residential students). Each course offering uniquely counts toward the overall load. Course topics may include the Public Health Foundations, Public Health Leadership, Management, Public Health Budgeting, Public Health Law or other courses that align with the candidate's field of expertise and program needs. Teaching loads may be reduced for those holding administrative appointments related to academic program management or other Division service. Student advising, educational program support, and service are anticipated to constitute approximately 25% of one's time. Participation in research is encouraged and may comprise up to 15% of one's time.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a doctoral or other terminal degree (e.g., PhD, ScD, MD, JD, DrPH) from an accredited institution in one of the following disciplines: health services research, sociology, organizations and management, public administration, public health, public policy, law, medicine, or other related disciplines.
