Basic Function:

The College of Aeronautics & Engineering invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position in Aeronautics, beginning in either January 2024 or August 2024.

Additional Basic Function – if applicable:

The College of Aeronautics and Engineering is the fastest growing college at Kent State University, with growth supported by the addition of: new and innovative programs at undergraduate and graduate levels; the launch of the new Center for Advanced Air Mobility; the addition of over 40,000 square feet of teaching, research and collaborative spaces; a vibrant professional pilot program housed at the Kent State University airport with the largest collegiate fleet in Ohio; and the intentional integration of aeronautics, engineering, and engineering technology programs. We seek faculty who are prepared to be innovators - within the classroom, in practice, and the research lab. We encourage all applicants to visit the CAE website (www.kent.edu/cae) to learn more about the college and university.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

The successful non-tenure track faculty candidate will have the ability and expertise to teach undergraduate courses in one or more areas across the aeronautics program offerings. The College of Aeronautics and Engineering recognizes the diverse background of professionals working within the air transportation sector, and welcomes applications across the aeronautics curriculum, including but not limited to: air traffic and airspace management (with the emphasis on emerging airspace management as it pertains to advanced air mobility); unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) with an emphasis on operations; professional pilot (wherein appropriate licensure and certifications would be beneficial, although not required); aircraft dispatch; aviation management; aviation maintenance management; and those with fundamental aeronautics expertise in such areas as aviation weather, human factors, aviation law and policy, etc.

The successful candidate will teach in a variety of settings, including lectures and simulation labs. A willingness to employ teaching modalities beyond in-person lectures is required, and relevant prior experience is an important consideration. Further, given the professional nature of the aeronautics programs at Kent State University, dedication to supporting and ensuring accreditation (through the Aviation Accreditation Board International) will be expected.

Prior to the start of employment, the successful candidate for the non-tenure track position must have a minimum of a M.S.
