Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The University of South Carolina (USC) Arnold School of Public Health seeks applicants for Clinical (Instructional) Assistant or Associate Professor positions focused on teaching and mentoring graduate students in our Master of Public Health (MPH) degree programs (epidemiology; health promotion, education, and behavior; health services policy and management; and physical activity and public health). This position is located in the Department of Health Services Policy and Management. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in a public health discipline or closely related field by the start date of employment, experience teaching and mentoring in a higher education setting, and a history of working in public health practice in settings relevant to health policy or health care management.

This full-time, 9-month faculty position is being established at the departmental level to support teaching and student mentoring in our MPH programs. Those programs include a 16-credit hour integrated core curriculum that features interdisciplinary instruction. In addition to teaching and mentoring in the MPH programs, successful candidates will be expected to continue engaging in public health practice to maintain professional connections and relevant community experience.

The Department of Health Services Policy and Management comprises 15 full-time faculty. The Arnold School of Public Health has a broad range of academic programs, extensive research expertise, and an array of centers and community programs. Our mission is focused on improving public health by preparing future scholars and the public health work force as well as conducting, translating, and disseminating groundbreaking research. The Arnold School is home to nationally recognized faculty, award-winning students, and impactful research and community engagement activities.

USC is the flagship university for a statewide higher education system. The Columbia campus is located in the heart of the capital city in close proximity to state agencies and an array of non-profit organizations.
