JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Mathematics at
UW-Madison is seeking an Associate Director of TA Operations to join our
instructional support team. One of the largest on campus, Mathematics is
home to nearly 400 workers including faculty, academic staff, university
staff, pre- and postdoctoral trainees; as well as graduate and
undergraduate student employees. The department offers around 500
discussion sections per academic year which are led by more than 150
graduate student teaching assistants. The position of Associate Director
of TA Operations is central to the department\'s efforts to train,
manage, and support graduate teaching assistants working in the
department. The Department sees this role as crucial to our efforts to
support the roughly 15,000 students enrolled in our introductory
mathematics courses each year. The person in this position will work
closely with the Associate Director of Instructional and Professional
Development and the Faculty TA Supervisor. The primary administrative
duties of this position involve the organization and management of the
systems involved in hiring, scheduling, observing, and providing
feedback to the teaching assistants in the department. Additionally,
they will participate in supporting TAs in their professional
development by assisting with training and conducting classroom
observations. This is a year-round (12-month) position. In addition to
the primary responsibilities, summer work will also consist of
contributing to instructional projects as assigned by department
leadership. Principal duties: Manage TA Operations The person in this
role will work with the Curricular Coordinator and Undergraduate Program
Manager to create the TA schedule for each semester. Other
responsibilities include hiring students for TA and grader positions,
managing TA observations, and oversight of the process for finding
substitutes. TA Support Responsibilities include observing TAs,
assisting with planning and delivery of new TA training, and serving as
