SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
The ROC Manager is responsible for overseeing the real-time operations of National Grid Renewables' portfolio of wind, solar, and battery storage assets across the US. The ROC Manager coordinates with site personnel, ISO/RTOs, utilities, and other stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the renewable facilities.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Real Time Operations
    • This position provides leadership, supervision, priority and direction to a team of Remote Operations Center (ROC) Operators for a 24/7 operations center located in Bloomington, MN
    • This position is responsible and accountable for the remote monitoring and operating of the National Grid Renewable fleet of Wind, Solar and Energy Storage generation assets.
    • The ROC Manager is responsible for maintaining the 24/7 shift schedule as well as managing the day-to-day real-time obligations of the ROC
    • Performance management and employee development and training
    • Provide leadership in the operation and development of the ROC
    • Incorporate lessons learned, best practices, technology, and feedback in the daily operation and refinement of the ROC Team (people, process, technology)
    • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with all levels of plant and support employees.
    • Responsible for managing and adhering to the ROC budget.
    • Manage the Real Time process.
    • ROC Physical Security & NERC CIP compliance as it pertains to the Real Time and Remote Operations environment.
    • ROC Team KPI development and implementation.
    • Ownership and management of real time dashboards and visualizations (PI Vision)
    • Ensure the ROC complies with all NERC O&P and CIP standards, all market specific standards (ERCOT, SPP, etc.), other regulatory bodies, etc.
    • Builds and promotes a culture of adherence to procedures and compliance.
    • Special projects may be assigned to the ROC Supervisor, from time to time.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements/Details:
  • Willingness to work twelve-hour rotating shiftwork where shifts cover a blend of weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Occasionally work extra shifts to cover operator vacation, illness or other shift coverage needs
  • Willingness to obtain NERC Operator Certification

 



WHAT YOU BRING TO THIS ROLE
 
  • A bachelor’s degree(s) in engineering or business-related field preferred
  • Strong written and oral communicator
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, analytical minded
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships between various stakeholders internally and externally.
    • Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to produce business cases to justify financial investment decisions, technology tools/upgrades, etc.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite

Experience
 
  • 5 years of power generation or transmission related experience, required.
  • 2-5 Years of management/leadership experience required.
  • Knowledge of power plant operations & maintenance required.
  • Knowledge of renewable generation, specifically wind, solar, and battery energy storage.
  • Experience in organizing and managing multiple simultaneous projects
  • Working knowledge of OSIsoft PI, Power BI, SCADA systems (Ignition, RTAC Controllers, PLC logic controllers, etc.) and Microsoft Office
  • Experience working with plant operations including alarm management, curtailment, voltage control, outage notifications and reporting and emergency action procedures.
  • Working knowledge of; Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), Generation Interconnection agreements (GIA), NERC GO/GOP standards, NERC CIP requirements
  • Experience in the drafting and preparation of regulatory and/or policy documents.
