Responsibilities
Byers Engineering, a MasTec company, is seeking a full-time qualified Lead Quality Assurance Make Ready Engineer to work in the Hugo, MN Office.
Position requires experience with outside aerial. With a thorough knowledge of all issues related to federal, state or local government permitting; as well as pole and conduit licensing procedures with utility permitting agencies. Must have experience with obtaining necessary agreement, license, or any other type of approval regarding deeds, leases, easements, and rights-of-way (ROW). The MRE/ QA Engineer must work cohesively with the in-house MRE Engineer to ensure quality application packages are provided to the client.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive and review completed fiber network route design packages ensuring that each package meets customer specifications and guidelines.
Review project deliverables for accuracy and apprise project management team of risks, issues, and recommended mitigations.
Collaborate with in-house MRE Engineering Team to implement quality assurance practices to maintain consistent production quality throughout the project.
Read and understand highway/road prints, utility maps, and as-builts to identify conflicts with existing facilities and understand basis for choosing most cost efficient route.
Ensures the integrity of the customer access network is maintained and provides support for the deployment of access technologies.
Follow very specific and detailed procedures already implemented while remaining flexible enough to readily adapt to changing standards and procedures without notice.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Solid background in Telecommunications with an emphasis on MRE / Quality Assurance
Sound MRE engineering experience deploying fiber optic networks - Knowledge of engineering principles within MRE job related functional area including general practices, procedures and industry standards.
Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments, NESE in a high density fiber environment.
Experience working all aspects of telecom with knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with proven problem solving ability, self-motivation, leadership, and team building capabilities with the ability to negotiate and motivate others.
Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels: from team members to executive management.
Knowledge of engineering tools including AutoCAD, OCalc, 3-GIS,or any similar GIS/KMZ platforms.
Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Drive.
Skills:
Possess STRONG communication & PEOPLE skills
Strong language skills are required, both oral & written
Show a "sense of urgency" to get the job done to meet all due dates
Follow-up with our customer and provide a status of any and all assigned work
Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels: from team members to executive management.
Qualifications:
Qualify on pre-employment screening

Possess a valid state driver's license and non-negligent driving record
