The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Parks and Trails is currently seeking one (1), part-time temporary 80% / 32 hours week position at Father Hennepin State Park. Work schedule and work hours will vary and may include nights, weekends, and holidays. The anticipated season dates are from mid-May through September; however, the actual dates may start later or end earlier to meet contractual obligations or agency needs. This position exists to assist in the operation of revenue production, to act as an information distribution point, to perform building sanitation, occasional grounds maintenance duties, clerical duties, spring cleaning, and fall maintenance projects for the benefit of the Park and Park visitors.

Responsibilities include:

Visitor Services - collect fees, sell permits, and merchandise, and ensure visitors are charged the current rate for all goods and services.

Information Services- Provide information and orientation to the public so that all visitors are made aware of rules, facilities, and activities in a way that promotes a positive image of Father Hennepin State Park.

Administrative Support - Provide assistance with income reporting, facility reservations, and other miscellaneous office duties so that accountability and timely completion is maintained.

Facility and grounds Maintenance- Provide assistance grounds keeping and facility maintenance and upkeep duties.

Merchandise Program- Assist with organizing and operating a functional merchandise program so that fiscal accountability and adequate inventory is maintained.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to effectively communicate with the public and other employees.

Ability to provide written information and instructions to the public and other park employees.

Experience with and knowledge of office equipment such as calculators, cash registers, POS systems, computers, printers, telephone systems and other office equipment.

Arithmetic skills sufficient to accurately collect money from the public for various fees.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions on labels, in instruction manuals, etc.

Ability to operate a phone, two way-radio, computer, and other office equipment.

Ability and willingness to work alone at night, in remote areas.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience operating a cash register.

Experience booking and organizing reservations for multiple facilities within a location(s).

Security experience.

Knowledge of Minnesota State Park rules, policies, and facilities.

Record keeping skills.

Computer skills using Microsoft Office and other proprietary software.

Experience in retail operations.

Additional Requirements

This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License with a clear driving record
