JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: This position is dedicated to assisting
with research performed in the Mowat Laboratory. The laboratory studies
natural aging of the brain and senses using behavioral methods in
companion (pet) dogs. The role will provide training and certification
in animal care and use, and in human subjects research. There are ample
opportunities for career advancement in the position, and intellectual
involvement in research if the candidate is motivated. Responsibilities:
Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and
organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to
ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision. 20%
Conducts research experiments according to established research
protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and
monitors test results 25% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization
of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and
places replenishment orders 20% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data
and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal
and external audiences 20% Participates in the development,
interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
10% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or
program staff and/or student workers 5% Performs literature reviews and
writes reports Tasks: Recruiting and scheduling participants for dog
clinical study participation Mailing and emailing supplies and
information for participation Preparing supplies and materials for
clinical visits Assisting and completing clinical visits with
client-owned dogs, including but not limited to behavioral tests,
clinical examination, blood draw, ophthalmic imaging, electrophysiologic
testing Managing samples from clinical visits Data entry and auditing of
data entry into online databases Documentation, management of supply
inventory Monitoring and management of equipment Use of data management
software including Microsoft excel, LabArchives and RedCap Institutional
