Overview

Position: Custodian and Program Aide

Department: Youth and Family Education                 

Availability of Position: June 10, 2024 for training

Schedule: Seasonal, Full Time, June 17-August 9, 2024

Reporting Relationship: Directly: Youth and Family Education Administrator

                                                                Indirectly:  Youth and Family Education Site Coordinator       

Salary/Grade: $14.50 per hour; 72 NE

Responsibilities

Description of Position:    

Clean breakfast and lunch areas after each meal. Heat prepared meals for each lunch period. Receive and record temperatures for program meal deliveries. As needed, handle spot cleaning and spills during program hours. Perform cleaning duties following provided daily, weekly and monthly checklists, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. Duties may include notifying supervisor of need for repairs or building damage.  This position will focus on keeping the meal facilities maintained and cleaned.

Qualifications

Requirements:    

High School Diploma or equivalent. 2 years work experience in related field. Should be self-motivated; exhibit strong initiative and time management skills. Must have prior facilities maintenance experience and possess working knowledge of cleaning/maintenance equipment and tools of the trade. This position requires the ability to work independently and to work outdoors in adverse weather. Must be a detail-oriented, logical thinker, who is a motivated self-starter and able to work independently on assigned projects. Must be able to adapt and change to meet the needs of the organization and the community. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Valid National Sex Offender Registry Clearance
  • TB Test
  • Health Physical to meet DHS compliance for licensed School Age Centers
  • Upon hire, complete 10 hours Health and Safety Training
  • CPR, First Aid and AED Certification
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
