When you join PPGNY as a Nurse you will join a collaborative team whose goal is to ensure that patients are treated with respect and dignity and that they leave feeling informed and care for.  

Additional responsibilities include:

    • Obtains and assesses patient's medical history and counsels on specific medical/surgical procedures
    • Assists physician conducting medical procedures
    • Provides nursing care to patients during all phases of exam and treatment
    • Counsels individual or groups of patients regarding contraceptive techniques and describes medical/surgical procedures
    • Interviews patients to determine and assess medical and social history prior to procedure or exam to ensure complete medical record and awareness of any relevant medical, emotional, psychological or social issues
    • Assists clinician in conducting medical/surgical procedures
    • Assists and/or prepares patient for exam/procedure or treatment
    • Participates in administration of moderate sedation to surgical abortion patients
    • Assists clinician in transfer of patient to recovery room after completion of surgical procedure
    • Performs any duties related to preparing instruments, equipment and/or medication needed for exam treatment/procedure
    • Provides pre- and post-procedural patient education including detailed information regarding procedures, possible after effects, and post procedure self-care
    • Evaluates patient's post-procedure/exam/treatment status, administering medication as prescribed, and identifies need for clinician intervention. 

You have:

    • Certification of Registered Nurse License in New York State
    • Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent
    • 1+ years of nursing experience, preferably in a reproductive health or ambulatory surgical services setting
    • You have a demonstrated understanding of the role that racial inequity plays in our society and its impact on healthcare systems and institutions, and consistently integrate your deep understanding of key racial equity concepts into work projects and interactions by addressing structural implications and disproportionate impacts of policies, activities, and decisions on race, class and other group identities within the context of job responsibilities and projects.
    • You have a demonstrated understanding of how race dynamics impact supervisory relationships, organizational culture, clinical service delivery, partnerships, campaigns and coalition work, and can demonstrate a history of successfully intervening in problematic dynamics and deepening a racial equity approach within an organization, team, service, program, or campaign

What makes you stand out:

    • Ability to start IVs and administer IV medications
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus 
    • Computer proficiency; Experience with electronic health Records
    • ACLS

    • Compensation:
$50.38 - $50.38 an hour

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season and Covid-19) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
