Company Profile:
Rarely would the term "order fulfillment," "vocational evaluation," or "total facilities management" come to mind when thinking of Goodwill. We are a social enterprise that applies commercial strategies to maximize improvements in human and environmental wellbeing rather than maximizing profits.
Our mission is to assist people who experience barriers to employment. We believe in the power of work to change people's lives. The dignity of making your own way as much as possible and earning a paycheck makes a difference to the people we serve and to our communities. We strengthen our communities by providing programs and services designed to give individuals the training, skills, and experience they need to find and keep a job. Unlike most non-profits, Goodwill is a social enterprise using a business model to fund our mission. The revenue earned through this model helps pay for vocational programs for people who come to us for these services.
We operate through three divisions: Donated Goods, Mission Services, and Business Service, which combine in a dynamic cycle. Community members donate gently used items they no longer want or need. These items are processed for sale and then sold in our retail stores which provides paid job training to our program participants.
Goodwill case managers recruit, interview, and evaluate applicants for services. We determine the goals and needs of each person who comes to us and match that with one or more of our programs or services. Horizon Goodwill operates five Mission Services Branch Offices, as well as satellite locations in many of our stores, where job seekers can come to explore our services.
Paid work and on-the-job training opportunities are created for these individuals by providing many business-to-business product lines. Every business has some operational need that can be performed by Goodwill. We provide custodial crews to work with Commercial, State, and Federal entities. We provide warehousing and order fulfillment services. Temporary labor needs such as set-up, tear-down, and parking at community events is another service we offer. Goodwill performs assembly, packaging, re-packaging and shipping for light and medium manufacturing. GoodShred, a document shredding service, is another business-to-business product that we offer
.In short, if your business needs something to be done, Goodwill can do it. Goodwill is more than just a store - it's a social enterprise.
