Position Summary
We are seeking Postdoctoral Associates. We seek researchers whose specialization foregrounds an intersectional approach to disability studies. This position is part of a collaborative team that includes the Center for Disability Studies and the Gender Institute on a project funded by the Mellon Foundation, “Communities of Care,” focused on networks and relations of care and the pursuit of disability justice, especially within marginalized communities. The Communities of Care project will build connections between the University at Buffalo and the broader Western New York area. The position is for up to 2.3 years. Applicants from a broad range of humanities and humanities-based disciplines are encouraged to apply. Fellows will be able to access funds for research, travel, professional memberships and other research related costs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD awarded by September 1, 2024.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, able to communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse populations including faculty, senior leadership, staff, students, guests and community members.
  • Possess a strong sense of accountability and be self-motivated.
  • Experience with and knowledge of humanities-based or qualitative research techniques, such as data collection and analysis, oral history, as well as ability to prepare reports and collaborate to complete research projects.
  • Ability to set priorities, handle multiple assignments and deadlines and use good judgment, while operating in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work with diverse communities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Publications and/or conference presentations in fields related to disability studies and disability justice or other fields related to the project.
  • Experience working in community-based settings.
  • Experience collaborating well with students, academic faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated experience with aspects of goal setting, project planning, implementation/logistics, evaluation, and reporting.
Physical Demands
Salary Range $55,000 - $60,000
Additional Salary Information The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
