Verdantas is a national consulting group seeking a talented Geotechnical Engineer II to join our team in the Northeast Area . This position can be located in Manchester, NH, Holden, MA, Easton, MA, Middletown, CT, Pawtucket, RI, or, for the right candidate, could be a hybrid situation in conjunction with one or more of these office locations.

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic multi-disciplinary team performing geotechnical evaluations to support land development/redevelopment projects, civil infrastructure projects, landfill projects, dam safety services, construction services, litigation support services, and more! Develop practical exposure to construction projects and frequent client interactions, while honing your technical background with state-of-the-art geotechnical programs to assist in the design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, ground improvement methods, stabilized slopes, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general field tasks such as field observations, measurements, photographic documentation, reconnaissance, pre-marking for explorations, and technical evaluations

  • Perform field observation of exploration and testing activities, classify soil samples and groundwater conditions

  • Perform field observation of foundation installations, site work, reconnaissance, ground improvement, and technical evaluations

  • Oversee work performed by third-party contractors, engineers, or other entities

  • Contribute to and conduct engineering analyses, calculations, and computer modeling (e.g. slope stability, seepage, etc.)

  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports summarizing research with findings, recommendations, and conclusions; data tables; figures; logs; and other attachments

  • Contribute to the preparation of design plans, specifications, and other deliverables

  • Assist with field investigation plan preparation and coordination of field/site work and permitting

  • Provide technical support for geotechnical and civil engineering projects, and occasionally environmental and compliance projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited Institution with an emphasis on geotechnical or closely related discipline

  • Engineering Intern or Engineer in Training certification

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience

  • Knowledge of civil and geotechnical engineering principles, practices, design, and application to project-related issues

  • Familiarity with shallow and deep foundation design and construction management

  • Strong analytical skill set with an ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating engineering problems and making decisions

  • Strong communication skills when interacting with others, expressing opinions effectively and professionally

  • Self-leadership and accountability with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities

  • Knowledge of discipline-specific design software (i.e. Slide2 and Settle 3 from Rocscience, SlopeW, AutoCAD/Microstation)

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline

  • Professional Engineering licensure

  • Prior geotechnical design experience

  • Membership in local professional organizations
