Required Skills:
Qualifications of the ideal candidate:
• A minimum of two years marketing / communication experience
• Strong graphic design skills; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop)
• Ability to manage multiple duties and priorities
• Outstanding copywriting/editing skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
• Experience with Mailchimp and WordPress; knowledge of Google Ads, Google Analytics, SEO a plus

Through immersive programs and environmental education, we inspire and engage people in the care of natural areas. Through land protection and habitat restoration, we revive threatened ecosystems so wildlife can thrive. Located in Afton, MN, on the ancestral home of the Wahpekute Dakota people, Belwin’s 1,500 acres of permanently protected land includes woodland, prairie, oak savanna, ponds, streams, and wetlands.

Position Summary:
Belwin Conservancy is looking for a dynamic person to coordinate, develop, and execute communication and design initiatives at Belwin Conservancy. The Communications Specialist is a vital position that supports Belwin’s outreach and marketing efforts as we expand programming, partnerships, and public access to our restored ecosystems. This position will work closely with the Development and Communications Director to promote Belwin’s mission, work, and programs with clarity and consistency, and generate communications that educate and inspire curiosity about the natural world. This position is based on site with ability to work from home in a hybrid model.

Primary Responsibilities:
Print & Digital Materials
• Create engaging visuals that support our editorial work and promote Belwin’s programs, events, and partnerships. This includes the graphic design and layout of digital assets for social media, website, and email use as well as print materials like event invitations, posters, maps, and signage.
• Manage implementation of yearly editorial/publicity calendar
• Serve as the point person for basic website updates and edits
• Manage Belwin’s social media accounts
• Gather content, create, and send regular email blasts in Mailchimp
• Act as primary liaison to print vendors

Brand & Messaging
• Collaborate with Belwin leadership to develop compelling visuals, a consistent voice, and thematic messaging that spotlights Belwin’s mission and values
• Share and manage use of Belwin Conservancy style guide & branding materials
• Design and implement marketing strategies for Belwin’s growing programs

Newsletter Project Lead
• Manage the twice-yearly publication of Belwin’s newsletter, The Meadowlark
• Pitch story ideas, gather images, and write and edit copy
• Package materials and coordinate feedback for freelance graphic designer

General Outreach
• Create and disseminate press releases to media
• Manage volunteers on select communications tasks
• Attend and support Belwin’s major events
• Participate in organizational work around diversity, equity, and inclusion


We offer:
• Starting salary $48,000 to $52,000
