Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly motivated and innovative individual with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) or a closely related field to join our newly established Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Education program. This one- to two-year fellowship offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise to the evolving landscape of healthcare education, while gaining valuable exposure to the Cleveland Clinic Education Institute and to healthcare education, including experience in curriculum development, faculty training, and educational leadership. This fellowship has the potential of transitioning into a permanent professional staff role.

Key Qualifications:

  • PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in developing or applying machine learning and generative AI solutions within an educational research context.
  • Experience with fundamentals that include programming languages (e.g., python, R), deep learning, data analysis, natural language processing, computer vision, cloud computing, big data technologies, DevOps and AIOps, and communicative problem-solving.
  • Strong understanding of governance and ethical issues related to implementation of AI-driven solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including educators, researchers, and clinicians.
  • Interest in leadership and project management.
  • Fluent in both written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to tailor content for various audiences.

Anticipated Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with educators, researchers, and enterprise ITD to develop and implement AI-powered learning modules for healthcare professionals and students.
  • Conduct research studies to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-based educational interventions.
  • Assist with the development of educational resources and training materials for faculty on integrating AI into their teaching practices.
  • Present findings and lead workshops on the use of AI in healthcare education at national conferences and professional development events.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic initiatives related to the integration of AI in healthcare education.

Key Experiences:

  • Learn the AI Landscape: deep dive into the theoretical underpinnings of AI relevant to healthcare education. Collaborate with educational technologists and curriculum developers to understand how AI can be integrated into existing learning materials. 
  • Develop Practical Skills: gain hands-on experience working with real use cases that can be generalized to the education field at large. Opportunity to explore the latest research on how AI is being used to develop intelligent tutoring systems, personalized learning pathways, and automated assessment tools. 
  • Bridge the Gap: design AI solutions alongside medical educators and healthcare professionals to address common educational challenges. 
  • Disseminate Ideas: focus on the ethical considerations of using AI in healthcare education, ensuring fairness, transparency, and responsible data practices. Present your work at local, national, or international conferences.
