Coordinator for Residential Education
SALARY: $43,745.20 - $45,878.60
LOCATION: Lynnwood, Washington
DESCRIPTION:
The live-in Coordinator for Residential Education (CRE) for the Residence Halls coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Residence Halls in coordination with the Housing Director, maintenance staff, and RAs. The CRE is responsible for building community; educational, developmental and college-wide programming; academic support programs; advising, conflict mediation, policy enforcement and jurisprudence; on-site crisis and emergency response coordination; Resident Assistant (RA) training, supervision and evaluation; housing and facilities management; and special projects. The CRE also works with the rest of the Housing team on academic year and summer programs including short programs, summer conferences, orientation and special long term international programs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Staff Supervision and Training
- Building community, Residence Life and college-wide programming and activities
- Plans, implements and participates in a comprehensive training and education program for the residential team (RAs, IMs, and Ambassadors). Is responsible for on-going staff development and/or in-service training (weekly/monthly meetings, spring training and fall training) along with providing guidance/training to second year staff members
- Advising conflict mediation and policy enforcement
- Supervises and meets weekly with Resident Advisor to assure support for CRE on calls and programming with-in the buildings.
- Housing and facilities management
- Monitors and reports on budget expenditures (522 student government funds and Housing Activity fees) and assists in college programming On-site crisis, disaster and emergency response coordination
- Academic Support Services
- On-site crisis, disaster and emergency response coordination
- Other duties and projects as assigned
This is an exempt position that reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of relevant educational and work experience.
- Experience in recruitment, motivation, goal setting and evaluation of student staff
- Experience designing student activities and programs with a particular emphasis on programming related to international and global perspectives
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills with parents, the public, and other professionals; skill in listening to and summarizing student concerns and assessment/mediation of individual and group conflicts
- Ability working effectively as part of a team
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Program presentation skills, facilitation skills and group leadership skills
- Ability to work cooperatively and sensitively with diverse cultures, ethnic groups, lifestyles, backgrounds, etc
- Excellent organizational skills
- General understanding of the current trends and issues impacting student population and higher education
- Ability to use a computer with Word, PageMaker, Excel, FileMaker Pro, Corporate Time, Eudora, etc
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree or equivalent knowledge in higher education and student affairs, counseling, or related field
- Knowledge of student jurisprudence
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with at least some aspect of the broad field of international educational exchange
- Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situation involving student welfare and safety
- Experience interpreting and implementing policies and procedures
- Knowledge of student development, group development and leadership development
- Ability to be certified in Red Cross emergency First Aid and CPR and maintain current certification
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in the Residence Halls, and onsite/in-person. The ability to sit at a desk/computer station, bend, stoop, walk and generally move around the office to consult with others, work within a busy environment and remain focused on tasks. Inventory management requires some lifting and moving of objects up to 30lbs. Excellent communication skills are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English and will include communication with people for whom English is not their first language. This also includes the ability to produce clearly written documents. Those who are multilingual are strongly encouraged to apply. This position is required to live in Rainier Hall as such, a residence is provided at no cost (apartment includes a furnished bedroom, kitchen, living room, utilities, cable, and parking space)
COMPENSATION:
Salary is $43,745.20 - $45,878.60 and is based on the Edmonds CC administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 11 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year.
WORK SCHEDULE:
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. As this is an on-call live-in position, evening, weekend and holiday work (including evening office hours, scheduled weekends, holidays and campus closures on-call) will be required. On-call coverage will be covered by the Assistant Director or Director if off-duty. Weekday hours in office will depend on hours worked during non-office hours.
FLSA Status:
The position is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act requirements.
