TheDental Assistant Specialistprovides chair-side and removed assistance to dental staff in any services rendered to patients including: assisting with chair-side, laboratory, oral surgery and x-ray procedures, as well as other assigned specialty duties. This role will also perform delegated dental functions under the direction of a licensed dentist in the delivery of care for all assigned patient populations, in accordance with all policy, procedure and practice guidelines.
Dental Assistant Specialist Overview
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepares patient, arranges instruments and set-ups, and prepares dental materials for treatment/procedure
Performs patient care activities relevant to the clinic as permitted by the Dental Practices Act
Assists dentists with patient examinations and oral surgical procedures
Schedules or performs clinical procedures as dentist advises
Demonstrates ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited dental assistant course, including current certification and registration as a dental assistant
Certification for oral surgery anesthesia
Two or more years of experience working as a licensed dental assistant
Experience assisting dentists during oral surgeries
Experience using EagleSoft clinic management software
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in a hospital based dental office or clinic for more than one year
Bilingual with knowledge of primary patient languages
