Summary
The Driver Recruiter will recruit, qualify, and sign-on over-the-road truck drivers in accordance with company and department staffing, quality, and safety goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruits truck drivers following company standard procedures and proven retention criteria to hire the best possible talent.
- Reviews applications/leads received through third party channels, evaluating each against driver hiring criteria.
- Makes contact with applicants that meet criteria via telephone or email within 24 hours of receipt.
- Explains the different programs available to determine the best ATS Driver program fit.
- Qualifies applicants in accordance with established hiring guidelines.
- Completes the application processes for both Independent Contractor and Company Driver candidates in computer systems.
- Passes applications to Operations Driver Support & Safety Coordinators to review and pre-approve applicants to allow for orientation scheduling.
- Makes hiring decision and schedules orientation accordingly.
- Initiates the sign-on/new-hire process by monitoring the status of all applications, maintaining contact with applicants, and immediately notifying cleared applicants of their approval to ensure timely scheduling for ATS orientation classes.
- Schedules applicants to driver orientation based on division and programs pre-approved for and completes all “Pre-Orientation” requirements in scheduling.
- Answers questions and assists with Safety and Operations in resolution of problems that arise during sign-on process.
- Meets monthly hiring goals as assigned by the Recruiting Department
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Must have experience in prospecting, lead generation, and meeting quotas.
- 2-5 years of industry experience preferred but not required
- Must have general knowledge of U.S. geography and basic map-reading.
- Must have excellent phone etiquette, general clerical and organizational skills.
- Must have the ability to operate basic office machines include telephone, 10-key, and personal computer.
- Must be an energetic, driven, persuasive, creative, detail-oriented, team player with strong written and verbal communication, and customer service skills.
