Job Description

Cleveland Cliffs is seeking an Senior IT Applications Engineer. This position is onsite at our office in West Chester, OH. Candidates will be programming systems for use in the Manufacturing space that support day-to-day plant operations. This position also requires the ability to troubleshoot issues and address concerns while identifying ways to improve the application(s) in a holistic manner.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Contribute in all aspects of the SDLC (analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance)
Design, develop, implement, and coordinate system changes
Build relationships with team members, peers, leaders, and key system owners
Interact with business users when gathering requirements, understanding support concerns, learning business processes, etc.
Participate in daily team meetings to communicate status on full stack web development projects
Reverse engineer legacy system functions and transform those into cohesive web applications
Visualize common interfaces to role-based functions across the Manufacturing Execution System
Use logical data design techniques to dynamically present content and functionality
Derive test cases for software changes and document the results thereof
Accurately report issues or problems with clear explanations and solutions to leadership
On-call support rotation including troubleshooting and issue resolution
Advise legacy developers on programming practices in the new development paradigm

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business (MIS), or related discipline
5-10 years of experience in Information Technology with custom development and SDLC processes
Experience with Web UI design, specifically Responsive CSS
Proven knowledge and experience with representative languages and tools:
C#, Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripting, PHP, C++, JCL, Cobol, PLI, SAS
Visual Studio, Git, Micro Focus enterprise server, ZENA, Eclipse, Maven, Tomcat
Proven knowledge and experience with DB2, Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with systems supporting a 24x7 Manufacturing setting
Experience with both Windows and Linux platforms
Experience with modernizing comprehensive and fully-integrated legacy systems
Excellent communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written
Awareness of project management and common methodologies
Awareness of agile techniques
