Job Description

 
2 Fulltime H-2A Seasonal Jobs available 04/26/2024- 11/30/2024. Operate 50-90 HP tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and/or harvest crops and flowers and bedding plants. Crops to include onions, garlic, beans, root vegetables, salad greens, cauliflower, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, melons, and raspberries. Manually plant, cultivate, and harvest fruits. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties may include tilling soil and applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops; cleaning, packing, and loading harvested products. Set up, operate, monitor & maintain irrigation/fertigation system. All machinery or equipment operation will be done within the farm settings and are incidental to work at our business locations. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Apply fertilizers to crops. Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress. Will monitor fields, high tunnels & hoop houses for plant infestations and use treatments appropriate for organic use in both a preventative or infestation situation. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Record information about crops, such as yields, or costs. Must be able to follow simple oral &/or written instructions. Must be physically able to lift up to 80 pounds Employer will furnish to workers, without cost, all tools and equipment required in the performance of the duties assigned. Workers should report for work with their own suitable work clothing. Will be required to work in a range of field temperatures which may range from 0 to 90+ degrees (F) with possible wet morning conditions. Requirements: * Three months experience in performing tasks described within an organic farming environment. * Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds * Post hire drug testing and background check at the employer's expense * Exposure to extreme temperatures * Extensive pushing/pulling/sitting/walking, frequent stooping, and repetitive movements.
