Job Summary
The Project Development Coordinator will coordinate the planning and developing of projects, seek funding sources from various Federal, State and local agencies through grants and loans on behalf of the tribe. Assist Housing Director with strategic and fiscal planning and implementation for the housing programs. Coordinate the narrative and financial reporting to various government and state agencies on programs as specified in the grants. Supervises department administrative staff and project crew as assigned.
This position is responsible for duties of the Housing Director in their absence, as assigned.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Study housing objectives and needs;
- Identify avenues of economic support for programs/projects;
- Gather, analyze, and report a variety of sociological, demographic, economic, and financial data;
- Conduct feasibility studies and prepare reports related to grant or loan applications;
- Research, identify, develop, and write grants and/or loans; consult and work with program managers to identify and pursue project funding opportunities based on program goals and objectives;
- Coordinate grant/loan application assembly with other staff;
- Assist in writing of fund development policies, procedures, and programs;
- Assist in preparing and timely submittal of all housing program reports to the funding agencies required;
- Supervisory duties include communicating job expectations, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training, implementing and enforcing systems; initiating corrective action; and enforcing and adhering to policies and procedures. Informing employees at least weekly or as necessary of all matters affecting their employment;
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in project coordination or managing complex administrative responsibilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.
- A combination of relevant experience, education, and training may substitute for education and experience requirements on a year-for-year basis.
- Proof of valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)
- Three years or more experience within a Housing Authority or Native Organization.
- Experience in community organization preferred and a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary teamwork.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribal culture and lifestyle, working effectively with AI/AN populations;
- Effective oral and written communication skills with sensitivity to the lifestyles of targeted participants;
- Skills in operating personal computers using a variety of computer software;
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts;
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal and tribal privacy laws and KIC policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.);
- Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines;
- Ability to work independently as well as with teams;
- Knowledge in Public Law regulations and CFR that pertain to all KIC Programs;
- Knowledge of grant management
- Knowledge of Public Housing Agencies.;
- Ability to effectively write reports, policies and procedures, plans, grants proposals, program justifications, etc.;
- Ability to create, implement and apply budgets.
- Ability to communicate orally, and in writing to staff members from a variety of backgrounds -professionals, technicians, and clerical;
- Ability to manage simultaneously multiple tasks, including telephone, computer operations and in-person visits;
- Ability to be flexible in order to perform at the highest level as a team player;
- Ability to utilize maximum degree of professionalism and diplomacy with those who may be experiencing a high degree of stress both mentally and/or physically.

Conditions of Hire
- May be required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license or capable of obtaining one, as well as be insurable by KIC’s company insurance.
