Position Summary
Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Morehouse School of Medicine is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry who is Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The successful candidate should be community oriented with a demonstrated interest in and commitment to the advancement of mental health equity through clinical care, education and scholarship. There are residential, outpatient and juvenile justice clinical opportunities available.

General Responsibilities:
Engage in teaching, research, and clinical service in the field of psychiatry and behavioral sciences. Participate in the teaching programs of the Department. Engage in patient care activities consistent with the department’s needs and the faculty member’s interests. Assume administrative duties such as serving on institutional committees and assisting with the Psychiatry Residency Program and/or the Psychiatry Clerkships.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD degree
  • Georgia Medical License
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Experience in medical student and resident teaching
  • Program planning experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • High level of professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Curriculum Development
  • Experience with medical student, resident and or fellow teaching
  • Scholarship in the form of peer-reviewed publications and presentations

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

  • Serve on department, institutional, and community-based committees
  • Provide resident and medical student teaching and supervision
  • May serve a Course Director for undergraduate medical education courses
  • May undertake clinical responsibilities at Grady or other affiliated sites as assigned
  • Assist with resident recruitment, including interviewing candidates
  • May collaborate on department research projects
  • May participate in faculty development programs to develop teaching and/or research skills

Immunization Requirements
It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are encouraged to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
