Your Role

As the Head of QSHE for Kuehne + Nagel in the U.S., you'll play a critical leadership role in shaping the quality, safety, and compliance culture across 100+ branches nationwide. This is your opportunity to lead a nationwide initiative, ensuring that our integrated management systems are not only compliant but continuously improved. Your expertise will help streamline processes, elevate training programs, and lead audits, all while delivering top-tier support to our customers. Your impact will extend across all levels of the organization, contributing directly to a world-class system that adds measurable value to both Kuehne + Nagel and our clients.

  • Set, track, and monitor QSHE performance targets at the national level, including KN Solutions and customer-specific requirements.
  • Evaluate and report on QSHE KPIs (audits, HSE, security, customer meetings) monthly to support decision-making.
  • Lead and support investigations into QSHE incidents (health & safety, security, dangerous goods, etc.).
  • Liaise with external parties (customers, authorities, certification bodies, suppliers) on QSHE, security, and dangerous goods matters.
  • Collaborate with national Business and Functional Units to ensure proper QSHE implementation across the organization.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits (vendors, customers, certification bodies) and facilitate synergies within the global QSHE team.
  • Develop and execute annual QSHE training plans; manage and coordinate the national QSHE team.
  • Set performance targets for direct reports, conduct performance appraisals, and identify training needs to enhance team skills.
  • Oversee the national QSHE budget, manage resource allocation, and ensure compliance with business continuity plans and safety standards.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • 7+ years in Quality, Safety, Health & Environment (QHSE), (internal candidates with strong managerial experience in Kuehne+Nagel's business units may be considered with less QHSE/logistics experience).
  • 5-8 years in logistics, supply chain management, freight forwarding, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Proficient in ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 (required), with additional knowledge of other ISO standards, food safety, security, and healthcare/pharma standards (preferred).
  • 3+ years of leadership experience (direct and virtual) managing teams in a global, cross-functional, and matrix environment.
  • 3+ years of experience implementing and maintaining an IMS.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean management and process engineering methodologies, with 2-5 years of hands-on experience driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Willingness to travel 40% of the time.
