We have an opening for a full-time Non-Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. We work together as a team to provide world-class care for our patients. Our Cole Eye team provides the highest quality vision and surgical care in a compassionate, attentive, and efficient environment. We provide on-the-job training and trainee program for those who would like to advance their career! Â
Your primary duties will include:Â Â
• Stocking, maintenance, and other related duties as assigned, including maintaining exam rooms, equipment, and supplies. Â
• Receiving and preparing patients for examination or treatment, under the direction of a supervisor or physician. Â
• Performing routine screening tests. Â
• Documenting patient information in the patient's medical record.   Â
The ideal future caregiver is someone who:Â Â
• Has a minimum of 1-year of experience in ophthalmology or optical. Â
• Uses communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes. Â
• Is empathetic to the needs and concerns of patients. Â
• Can work in a fast-paced environment and be an effective and positive member of our collaborative team.  Â
• Is a detail-oriented professional, having excellent communication skills, a friendly and outgoing personality, and a willingness to learn.    Â

This field has many opportunities for advancement into a certified role. You can begin your career as an ophthalmic assistant/Non-Certified Assistant and through experience, education, and testing advance to a certified ophthalmic technician, then a certified ophthalmic medical technologist.  Â

Responsibilities:Â
- Under direction of supervisor or physician receives and prepares patients for examination or treatment.
- May perform routine screening tests.

Education:
- High School Diploma.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Certifications:
- None required.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of one year experience in an ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care.
- Additional formal education or training in ophthalmology may substitute for some or all of the stated experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
- May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
- Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.

- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Â
