 STNA State Tested Nursing Assistant

 

 

The Employee shall use his/her best efforts to provide the highest level of professional service; conduct him/herself at all times with a pleasant and professional demeanor; and maintain and improve his/her job skills. Employee agrees at all times to perform his/her duties faithfully, industriously, and to the best of his/her ability, experience, and talent, to the satisfaction of Employer. The Employee’s duties shall include, but not be limited to the following:

 

Scope:

Works directly with residents. Has contact and interaction with families and visitors as well as other disciplines (Laundry, Activities, etc.).

 

General Function:

Performs basic nursing care, routine general duties in a safe manner while providing resident care under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse after completion of the training program established by the Director of Nursing.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

         Receives assignments, checks resident schedule for the day or shift;

         Gives routine care to residents. This includes proper bathing, good oral care, care of dentures, shampoos when necessary, shaves, hair and nail care, and proper dressing of resident;

         Makes beds, sets room in order;

         Checks diet trays with diet orders before serving, serving trays, helps food resident as necessary and removes trays when residents are finished;

         Assist with, or gives personal care after meal;

         If residents are able to eat in the dining room, transports residents to the dining room and supervises them while in the dining room;

         Settles residents for naps;

         Serves nourishment and/or fresh drinking water;

         Assists residents to and from bathroom, offers bedpans and keeps incontinent residents clean at all times;

         Changes linens whenever necessary;

         Encourages self-help measures and activities;

         Performs personal services for residents within reason, such as reading to them, assisting to recreational activities, do whatever possible that will promote comfort, security and rehabilitation;

         Prepare residents for tests or x-rays, visits by physician and dentist and recreational activities;

         May assist with physical therapy;

         Sees that safety devised are in use and safety precautions are followed. Sees that room temperatures and humidity are compatible with residents needs;

         Assist nurse in giving treatment and examining residents;

         Observe residents and notes physical condition, attitude, reactions, appetite, etc. and reports changes or unusual findings to supervisor;

         Assist with restorative rehabilitative care of residents and instruction in self-help;

         Answers lights in a timely manner;

         Participates in unit cleaning duties which are not performed by housekeeping personnel in order to maintain safety for residents;

         Gives and receives reports;

         May perform other duties as directed by supervisor;

         The Nurse Aide functions as a team member and is responsible to the nurse in charge. All aides must be aware that certain responsibilities and procedures are specific to the particular shift and station. These are outlined according to shift duties.

 

 

Qualifications:

High school graduate preferred or work experience, preferable in a resident care situation. Must be a state tested nurse aide.

 

Because of close contact with the residents, this position has been determined to have potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens.  Country Club Rehabilitation Center will provide training, information and equipment to minimize the potential risk.

 

It is a requirement of this position that the individual comply with all privacy policies and procedures of the Provider and protect the privacy of Personal Health Information as required by law.
