POSITION DESCRIPTION

The City of Rochester invites applications for the position of:
Recreation Coordinator


Nature of Work
The Recreation Coordinator is a professional level role that coordinates golf course operations and supports other sports and recreation programing within the Parks and Recreation department. This role will provide work direction to seasonal and part-time staff including scheduling, training, hiring, and coaching. Duties also include processing registration, scheduling and implementation of programming, reporting and record keeping. A successful candidate must be able to interact with the public in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.

Schedule: This role will typically be scheduled between 8 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday, but will require some evening and weekend work based on the programing schedule.

Pay: Hiring range of $73,477 - $86,466 with the opportunity to advance to $103,734 based on time in the role and successful performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Manage golf course daily operations

  • Interact with program participants and guests and provide information on facilities and programs in a manner that will assure the highest possible level of guest service.
  • Prioritize and schedule golf course maintenance.
  • Collect green fees and prepare daily bank deposits.
  • Supervise tee time reservation system and provide accurate record keeping.
  • Supervise youth golf programs.
  • Facilitate the sale of golf merchandise and equipment.
  • Manage rental program of equipment, carts and clubs. 
* Manage seasonal employees
  • Hire and schedule seasonal staff to assist with golf and other sports and recreation activities.
  • Train and coach employees to support customer needs.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of divisional budgets and strategic priorities.
  • Ensure employee personnel, timekeeping, and training records are accurately maintained per City policy and statutory requirements.
*Provide golf assistance to golf course patrons
  • Schedule golf tournaments for local organizations and leagues.
  • Determine fee schedule for tournaments and special events.
*Support other sports and recreation programs as needed
  • Provide direction and assistance to users and user groups of recreation facilities.
  • Manage responsibility for opening and closing the facility.
  • Coordinate the setup of facilities for their proper function and special events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years of experience working at a golf facility providing customer service and operational support
 
Desirable Qualifications:
Education and training in accounting, marketing, communications, public relations sports physiology or agronomy preferred.

Current PGA or LPGA Class "A" member.
