Utility Job Coach in our Supported Employment program provide support and skills-training to the Utility Workers within the community (Carmel, Brewster, Mahopac, Patterson and Holmes.)  

  • Oversee and work alongside the Cut and Hedge Supervisor with the Utility Workers providing landscaping service which will include mowing, raking, planting, etc. of properties.
  • Work alongside the Utility Workers demonstrating the proper use of all types of landscaping tools/equipment.
  • Ensure proper safety precautions are followed by the Utility Workers.
  • During inclement weather and winter season will oversee and work alongside the Utility Workers painting and performing other maintenance tasks assigned by the Director of Maintenance & Facility.
  • Work closely with the Supervisor in assigning job tasks to the Utility Workers.
  • Ability to maintain assigned vehicle, trailer, and equipment by completing daily vehicle checks and maintenance schedule, reporting any problems to Supervisor.
  • Responsible for maintaining and securing all equipment assigned.
  • Responsible for completing assessments with the Supervisor for individuals interested in obtaining a position as a Utility Worker.
  • Responsible for formulating, implementing and monitoring individualized plans and goals for assigned caseload in keeping with State and local regulations.
  • Maintain participant files; enter appropriate case notes and other relevant information on a daily basis.

A high school diploma/GED, a minimum of one year of working experience with persons with disabilities (which can include personal or professional experience or volunteering), and an acceptable NYS/CT driver's license are required.  Must be van certifiable and have basic computer knowledge.  We provide training for the certification indicated above.

 

HOURS:  40 hours flexible weekly - Monday - Friday / must be flexible to  work evenings and weekends

STARTING SALARY: $22.63 - $24.90

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One year of experience working with people with disabilities
  • Acceptable NYS or CT driver's license
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in all types of weather conditions.
  • Some knowledge of landscaping, painting and general maintenance tasks
  • Ability to teach others landscaping, painting and general maintenance tasks
  • Computer skills
