PRN Speech Language Pathologist – Inpatient Acute

A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) diagnoses and treats conditions that affect one’s ability to communicate and swallow. SLPs work with people of all ages. As experts in communication, these specialists assess, diagnose, treat and prevent speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders from birth through old age. SLPs can help patients improve their speech, open new communication possibilities, and improve their ability to comprehend others, express oneself, communicate more effectively in social settings, swallow safely.
A caregiver in this position works a variable PRN schedule from 8:00AM – 4:30PM on weekdays and weekends.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Evaluate and treat patients with injuries and/or diseases which result in a loss or impairment of speech, language, voice, cognitive and/or swallowing function.

Perform initial and ongoing assessments.

Establish goals and plans of care.
-
Perform therapy interventions utilizing standard speech therapy techniques and skills.

Complete documentation.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Master’s degree.
-
Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
-
Current Ohio license as a Speech Language Pathologist.
-
Hold or have applied for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform tasks needed for patient care and administrative tasks.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.
