Position Summary
Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate position in the Departments of Life Sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to research projects focused at i) Identifying novel mechanisms involved in regulating HIV latency, and ii) Understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in HIV associated neurological disorders. The successful candidate will be working with Vir Singh, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, Department of Life Sciences.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. for Postdoctoral Fellow and B.S. or M.S. for Research Associate, in the subject area of Microbiology, Immunology, Cell and Molecular biology or any related field with basic knowledge of immunology and/or infectious diseases.

Qualified applicants, specifically for postdoctoral position, will have strong laboratory experience in flow cytometry, basic molecular biology techniques (such as subcloning and qRT-PCR), western blotting, confocal microscopy, Chromatin Immunoprecipitation, animal cell culture, and ELISAs. 

Suitable candidate must be able to work independently, interpret experimental data, troubleshoot the experimental challenges, and demonstrate a keen interest in training of graduate and undergraduate students. Furthermore, suitable candidates must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and contribute to keep the lab area safe and functional.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data (e.g. RNAseq) is desirable but not required.
Experience in working with culturally diverse group of people is highly desirable.
Experience in a role similar to that of a research assistant.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Salary Range $40,000-$50,000
