Director of Engineering, Persistent Disk

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in software engineering leadership.
  • Experience developing and delivering cloud or enterprise products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience leading the development of highly available, mission-critical Business Continuity solutions at scale.
  • Experience in storage systems, distributed systems architecture, data replication, and disaster recovery technologies.
  • Customer focus with the ability to anticipate market needs and drive impactful product strategies.

About the job

As a Director of Engineering, you will lead the development and delivery of industry-leading solutions for data backup, replication, and disaster recovery. Leading a team, you'll define the strategic direction for this critical business area, fostering a culture of excellence and driving significant growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own the outlook and roadmap for Persistent Disk's Business Continuity offerings, encompassing comprehensive backup functionality, advanced asynchronous replication capabilities, and robust disaster recovery solutions.
  • Be responsible for all aspects, including the control plane, ensuring seamless operation and continuous innovation.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer challenges within the Business Continuity landscape. Translate these insights into strategic product initiatives that deliver exceptional value and propel Google Cloud's market leadership.
  • Provide strategic direction and influence decisions across Google Cloud.
  • Partner closely with engineering directors across Google Cloud organizations (e.g., Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Google Customer Solutions (GCS), Cloud SQL) and others, to ensure seamless integration and deliver an excellent user experience.
