Fairview Health Services is hiring a Cardiovascular Electrophysiology (CV/EP) Technician to join our Imaging team at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This role is eligible for a sign on bonus starting at $4,000!

The CV/EP Technician assists with procedures in CV and EP providing diagnostic testing, collects and assesses data, performs scrub role and assists cardiologist.

UMMC East Bank is the flagship location for University of Minnesota Health and is comprised of two hospitals and dozens of adult specialty clinics on both the East and West banks of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis. This location offers the widest range of hospital and clinical services provided through University of Minnesota Health. Complete services range from primary care, emergency care and the delivery of thousands of babies each year, to care of patients with the most sophisticated conditions. Schedule : This position will be working 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). This role will have a rotating 8-hour schedule with start times of 7am, 7:30am and 9am and will include an on-call component.

Responsibilities Job Description

Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate equipment:

· Able to electrically and mechanically balance and calibrate pressure transducers and amplifiers in all rooms.

· Troubleshoots and corrects ECG tracing problems

· Operates table side C-arm controls

· Insures all POC testing equipment is maintained according to established standards

· Applies prescribed three major principals of radiation safety at all times

· Assist physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, and more. Using sophisticated fluoroscopic equipment, you’ll be responsible for capturing images of the blood vessels post processing images

· Operate monitor/recording equipment in vascular surgery/IR procedures.

· Operate IVUS

Assist Vascular surgeon and Interventional radiologist procedures

· Ability to scrub all IR and vascular surgery procedures

· Assist provider with required vascular wires and devices

Collects, assesses and maintains patient data

· Enters patient demographics into both monitoring and x-ray equipment

· Records all patient and monitor data on event log according to established guidelines.

· Archives procedure to CD-Rom

· Enters all data into computer system for accurate billing and patient procedure history

· Reduces all right and left heart data to basic form for physician interpretation and reporting.

· Assesses and documents pulses distal to catheter insertion site pre and post surgical

· Recognizes rhythms and sudden hemodynamic changes.

Assists invasive cardiologist with all invasive coronary procedures.

· Ability to scrub in all procedures in diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab and EP

· Proficient in patient preparation and sterile tray set up.

· Assists the cardiologist with required catheter and wire manipulation while maintaining the required sterile technique.

Core EP duties.

· Operates monitor/recorder and intracardiac simulator for EP studies

· Operates RF Ablation equipment

· With use of computer, draw and calculate LV grams to include ejection fraction and stroke volume.

· Monitor for EP studies/ablations, integrating use of EP mapping systems.

Qualifications

Required

Education

Graduate of an education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs

License/Certification/Registration

CVT, RTR, RCIS, or RCES (within 1 year)

Current CPR

Preferred

Experience

1-3 Years CVT experience
